Mt. Misen has been selected as one of the “New 100 Famous Mountains of Japan”, and the Misen Primeval Forest (registered as a World Heritage Site in 1996) is a popular spot where you can spend a quiet and peaceful time.Take a leisurely scenic ride on the ropeway to visit the summit area for a special view that reminds you of the magnificence of natural beauty.

At the observation room on the 2nd floor of Shishiiwa (Lion Rock) Station, you can relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea.

The Miyajima Ropeway was built so that everyone can enjoy walking around Mt. Misen! As if you were walking in the air, you can enjoy the view of the World Heritage Site Misen Primeval Forest and the spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea. Also, it is only about 30 minutes on foot from Shishiiwa Station to the summit of Mt. Misen. On the way, please enjoy strolling through Mt.Misen Main Hall, the Reikado (Sacred Fire Hall), the Sankido (Hall of Three Demons), and more.

Sanki-do: The hall that enshrines Sanki Daigongen, the god of demons

Miyajima's highest peak, Mt. Misen stands 535 meters high in the background of Itsukushima Shrine, and has been revered as a sacred mountain since ancient times. The area around the summit covered with huge rocks is called Iwasaka, and has been believed to be a place where gods reside. Since its foundation by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) in 806, it has attracted the faith of Kiyomori Taira and Hirobumi Ito and others, and has left behind numerous footprints and legends.
